French Exchange Group to France

Monday, 09 November 2015

November saw the fifth exchange visit of Year 9 and 10 students from Presdales and Richard Hale to the College Gaston Serpette in Nantes. This year the group was joined by some sixth formers from Richard Hale who were partnered with a lycée in the city. Our French colleagues planned a very full programme with visits to the old cities of Nantes and Rennes as well as time spent with exchange partners in the school and its primary section. In Nantes the students enjoyed the attractions of Les Machines de l'île, especially the ride on a giant mechanical elephant, as well as visits to the castle museum and the memorial to the abolition of slavery. On Friday evening we were privileged to be given a guided tour of the town hall of Nantes and treated to a civic reception. The students spent the weekend with their host families who provided a farewell tea party in the school on the Sunday afternoon. It was a really enjoyable and valuable experience for the students and we would like to thank our French colleagues and the host families for all their hard work and hospitality. We are looking forward to the return visit in March.
