Presdales' Sixth Form is rated "outstanding" by Ofsted. Once again, Presdales School pupils have achieved fantastic results: A2 results rose by 13% to a new record for the school, of 67% of Y13 achieving A*, A or B grades. AS results were equally impressive, with 66% achieving C or above. GCSE results were great, with 90% of the girls achieving A*-C including English and Maths, 5% above our target. Congratulations to all our pupils, their teachers and parents.

Downloads: Sixth Form Examination Highlights Sixth Form Application Process Life in the Sixth Form is lively and stimulating and full of opportunities where we offer in excess of 30 subjects at As and A2 level. The Sixth Form Centre at Presdales is separate to the main school complex. The Presdales Mansion comprises a spacious common room with various media facilities, a dedicated ICT suite and study room. In addition the Reading Room, which houses the sixth form library, creates an environment similar to university or college for students to work independently. Relationships between staff and students are warm and supportive. Students maintain previous friendships and take opportunities to establish new ones through small, mixed year tutor groups and subject classes. The Sixth Form students contribute enormously to the quality of our community by modelling a sense of responsibilty, an interest in learning for its own sake, an understanding of the value of service, and team work with the staff in achieving mutual goals. Students grow in maturity and are encouraged to take responsibility in a wide variety of areas in preparation for adult life, in higher education or the workplace. The majority of students stay on at Presdales after Year 11. In addition students join us from a range of other schools to take advantage of the broad range of A Level subjects on offer here and our excellent track record of results. Since 1999 we have welcomed boys into our Sixth Form. We have been delighted with their involvement in the Sixth Form and the school as a whole and look forward to seeing a growing number join us. We welcome applications from external students. Please contact the school for an information pack and application form although provisional subject availability can be viewed here. Potential students who are thinking about joining the Sixth Form are welcome to apply at any time although we will be interviewing in spring 2012. External applicants can download an application form. Sixth form students in Year 12 study a wide range of AS Levels depending on their individual academic interests and future plans. As a member of the Hertford and Ware 16-19 Federation, students at Presdales are able to study a subject at AS/A2 level at one of the other consortium member schools. In addition they all have two periods of Physical Education, one period studying an ab initio holiday language, one period of Careers and over the course of two years they all take Critical Thinking at AS Level. Extra-Curricular and Social Aspects of the Sixth Form There are plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy life in the Sixth Form beyond the study of your chosen subjects. In addition to subject related visits (such as Geography and Biology field trips, language courses and visits to the theatre, art galleries, concerts etc) there are many other opportunities including the Model United Nations, The Young Enterprise Scheme, The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, World Challenge Expeditions and our own Charity Committee. Students who wish to are encouraged to exercise a pastoral role with pupils in the main school who value their interest and support. This could take the form of helping in Year 7 with paired reading, assisting in lessons, running clubs and activities and joining the "Big Sister" support scheme.
Advice and support is always available to help all students make appropriate post-18 choices. We are justly proud of the success and maturity of all our sixth formers. We have seen students go on to win university prizes, perform leading roles on the West End stage, represent Great Britain in the Olympics and win the British Physics Olympiad, to name but a few. We always enjoy hearing news from our former students when they come back to visit us.
